A delegation from the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Nantong University visited our school for a research exchange

On the morning of March 24, a five-member delegation from the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Nantong University—including Dean Wang Linfeng, General Party Branch Secretary Liu Lili, academic leader Li Yeping, Vice Dean Jin Jingliang, and Assistant Dean Xue Lian—visited our school to conduct a joint study and research exchange activity focused on having a correct attitude towards performance in our work. The symposium was held in Conference Room 2331 of Huiwen Building. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on Party building, disciplinary development, research management, performance-based compensation, and academic integrity. Participants from Shenzhen University's School of Mathematical Sciences included Wang Yu, Secretary of the Party Committee; Lu Jian, Vice Dean; Han Yu, Vice Dean; and Hu Yaohua, Vice Dean.

Wang Yu, Party Secretary of the School of Mathematical Sciences at Shenzhen University, extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Nantong University. She shared the school's distinctive approaches to Party building work, highlighting the experiences that led to the school's Party Committee being recognized as a “Double Innovation” benchmark department and a model Party branch for Party building work since 2023. She also explained specific measures taken to promote the deep integration of Party building work with academic operations. She provided a detailed account of the school's development history and current status, systematically showcasing its achievements in areas such as discipline rankings, faculty composition, research development, and talent cultivation.

Liu Lili, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Nantong University, expressed gratitude for the warm reception extended by the School of Mathematical Sciences at Shenzhen University. She briefly introduced the historical development and distinctive features of teaching and research at Nantong University's School of Mathematics and Statistics, noting that the school has recently recruited and cultivated a group of outstanding young faculty members and various talented individuals from Nantong City. As the school is currently in its early stages of establishment, she expressed hope that this exchange would serve as an opportunity to strengthen mutual learning and exchange. Dean Wang Linfeng introduced the school's experiences and practices in teaching, research, and talent development. He shared the school's development plan from four dimensions: discipline development, academic culture building, service to the local community, and talent cultivation. He expressed hope that through this exchange, the school could learn from and draw upon advanced experiences in the application and establishment of doctoral programs and faculty development, thereby propelling the school’s discipline development and talent cultivation to new heights.

Subsequently, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on key issues such as the recruitment of outstanding overseas talent, improving ESI highly cited indicators, and achieving breakthroughs in local service outcomes. They also exchanged views on the key challenges and priorities in areas including research project applications, faculty performance evaluations, academic integrity, and the organization of academic competitions. Both sides agreed that this research and exchange visit not only deepened mutual understanding between the mathematics departments of the two universities but also laid a solid foundation for future collaboration. They pledged to use this exchange as an opportunity to jointly promote the high-quality development of the mathematics discipline.
