Report title: Variational Energy Function Image Segmentation Model and Applications

Report Content: Two new types of variational energy flooding models are proposed for segmentation problems in medical and natural images. Since the proposed models are non-smooth optimization problems, they are solved by the classical operator splitting type method, and numerical comparisons verify the reasonableness of the models and algorithms.

Resume of the author: Zhifeng Pang is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Mathematics and Statistics, Henan University, a visiting researcher at the Shenzhen Institute of Advancement (SIAS) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), a deputy director of the Henan Center for Applied Mathematics (Henan University), a vice-president of the Henan Provincial Society of Digital Graphics and Imaging (HPSGI), and a post-doctoral fellow at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and City University of Hong Kong (CUHK), as well as a visiting scholar at the University of Liverpool (UOL), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), City University of Hong Kong (CityU), and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He is currently a member of the editorial boards of CT Theory and Application Research and Chinese Somatology and Image Analysis, and mainly focuses on mathematical theories and numerical algorithms in image processing. He has presided over and participated in more than ten national and provincial projects, and has published nearly 50 SCI papers, two authorized patents, and two industry-university-research projects.
