TitleL-functions and automorphic representations

SpeakerBin Xu Associate Professor (Sichuan University)

Time:16:00-17:00, Jan. 30, 2026

AbstractL-functions are central objects in number theory. They are closely related to the distribution of prime numbers and to the arithmetic of elliptic curves, as highlighted by the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture. With the development of the Langlands program, automorphic representation theory has become a fundamental tool for studying L-functions. In this talk, I will first give a brief introduction to L-functions, and then discuss several related topics in automorphic representation theory.

Speaker Profile:Bin Xu, currently an Associate Professor at the School of Mathematics, Sichuan University, earned his Ph.D. from the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His primary research focuses on automorphic representation theory and its arithmetic applications. His work has been published in international and domestic journals including the American Journal of Mathematics, Journal für Reine und Angewandte Mathematik, International Mathematical Research Notes, and Science of Chinese Mathematics.
