Title: Hermitian-Yang-Mills equation on Higgs bundles
Speaker: Professor Xi Zhang (Nanjing University of Science and Technology)
Time: 10:00–11:00, April 22, 2026
Location: Room 1, Huixing Building, Yuehai Campus, Shenzhen University
Abstract: The Higgs bundle was introduced by Hitchin, it closely related to multiple fields such as non-abelian Hodge correspondence, algebraic geometry, K\"ahler geometry and group representations. In this talk, we introduce our recent works on the Hermitian-Yang-Mills equation on Higgs bundles and their applications. These works are joint with Chuanjing Zhang and Shiyu Zhang.
Speaker Profile: Xi Zhang is a professor, doctoral advisor, and dean of the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Nanjing University of Science and Technology. His research focuses on geometric analysis, the existence of canonical metrics in complex geometry, and related nonlinear partial differential equations. His findings have been published in leading international mathematical journals such as Adv. Math., Crelle’s Journal, CMP, J.EMS, and Math. Ann. In 2012, he was selected for the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ “Hundred Talents Program”; in 2016, he received the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s Outstanding Young Scientist Award; in 2019, he was awarded the Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award; he was a co-recipient of the Second Prize of the 2022 National Teaching Achievement Award; in 2024, he was selected as a first-tier candidate for the Jiangsu Province “333 Project”; and in 2025, he received the Second Prize of the Ministry of Education’s Natural Science Award. Over the past five years, he has led a Key Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a sub-project under the National Key Research and Development Program, and a Jiangsu Province Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team. He currently serves as Chair of the Applied Mathematics Committee of the China Society of Ordnance Engineering, Executive Council Member of the Chinese Mathematical Society, Vice President of the Jiangsu Mathematical Society, and Editorial Board Member of Science in China: Mathematics.
