On November 8, 2025, the preliminary round of the 17th National College Mathematics Competition, hosted by the Chinese Mathematical Society and organized by Guangdong University of Technology, commenced in the “Guangdong Division.” The organizing committee authorized Shenzhen University as the competition venue in the Shenzhen region, marking the commencement of the event at our institution. Nearly 900 participating students from multiple universities in Shenzhen, including Shenzhen University and Southern University of Science and Technology, took part in the competition, with examination administration handled by the School of Mathematical Sciences.

At 8:00 AM, participants began arriving at Zhilibang Building on Canghai Campus. Students from Southern University of Science and Technology and Shenzhen Polytechnic arrived via chartered buses. Faculty and student volunteers from the School of Mathematical Sciences guided participants through orderly campus entry and examination room access at key points such as Zhiyuan Gate and the Zhilibang elevator lobby, providing detailed responses to specific inquiries.

Examination office staff arrived at 7:30 AM to prepare materials. Proctors signed in at 8:30 AM to collect test papers and other supervision materials. Staff handed over test papers and proctoring documents to supervisors while clarifying examination regulations and disciplinary requirements. All proctors and examination staff diligently fulfilled their duties to ensure a fair, impartial, and transparent testing environment.

Given the high foot traffic during the competition, the venue organizing committee prioritized examinee health and safety by providing medical masks and thermometers, establishing medical emergency stations, and designating contingency classrooms. Additionally, the university hospital dispatched two experienced physicians to offer emergency medical assistance. The organizing committee established a dedicated emergency task force, developed contingency plans, pre-planned response protocols, and clarified personnel responsibilities to ensure the competition proceeded safely, smoothly, and successfully.

At 8:35 AM, participating students began entering the examination rooms. Proctors verified credentials according to examination regulations and guided candidates to their seats. They also reminded candidates to place personal belongings in designated areas and ensure electronic devices were muted or powered off. At exactly 9:00 AM, the competition commenced with the ringing of the bell. Inside the examination halls, students concentrated deeply on their work. Outside, university security personnel and volunteers from the School of Mathematical Sciences remained steadfast in their posts to ensure the smooth operation of the event.

The competition at Shenzhen University received significant attention and strong support from the Guangdong Mathematical Society and the Guangdong College Mathematics Competition Organizing Committee. Throughout the pre-competition, competition, and post-competition phases, these organizations provided guidance and assistance with venue organization and examination administration. At 11:30 a.m., the bell rang once more, signaling the official conclusion of the mathematics competition. After submitting their answer sheets and rough draft papers, the students gradually exited the examination hall. With the departure of the last examinee, the preliminary round of the National College Mathematics Competition held at our university came to a successful close.

The National College Mathematics Competition is a high-level national mathematics contest organized by the Chinese Mathematical Society and hosted by regional competition centers. Since its inception, the event has received continuous coverage from mainstream authoritative media outlets including People's Daily Online, Xinhua News Agency, Guangming Daily, and China Education Daily. It has attracted widespread participation from top domestic universities such as Tsinghua University and Peking University. In 2024, over 320,000 students from 32 competition zones nationwide registered to participate. Currently, the competition has been successfully included in the Subject Competition Observation List of the China Association of Higher Education.
