The National College Students Mathematical Modeling Competition Problem Review and Experience Exchange Conference, co-hosted by Shenzhen University, was successfully held in Shenzhen.

From November 14 to 16, the “2025 National College Students Mathematical Modeling Competition Problem Review and Experience Exchange Conference” was successfully held in Shenzhen. Organized by the China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CSIAM), the event was jointly hosted by CSIAM's Mathematical Modeling Professional Committee, the National College Students Mathematical Modeling Competition Organizing Committee (National Organizing Committee), and Shenzhen University. Co-sponsored by the Guangdong Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics and the Guangdong College Students Mathematical Modeling Competition Organizing Committee, the conference attracted over 800 frontline mathematical modeling instructors from universities nationwide.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Lu Xiwén, Director of the Society's Mathematical Modeling Professional Committee and Professor at East China University of Science and Technology. Professor Ren Xiangzhong, Director of the Academic Affairs Office at Shenzhen University, delivered the welcome address. This was followed by remarks from Professor Xie Jinxing, Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the National Organizing Committee and Professor at Tsinghua University. The closing address was given by Professor Wang Qirú, President of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Director of the Guangdong Provincial College Students Mathematical Modeling Competition Organizing Committee, and Professor at Sun Yat-sen University. Also in attendance were Professor Han Zhonggeng, Vice Chair of the Mathematical Modeling Professional Committee; Associate Professor Lu Liqiang, Secretary-General; Professor Chen Xiongda, Deputy Secretary-General; Professor Cai Zhijie, Secretary-General of the National Organizing Committee Expert Group; Associate Professors Tang Hongyan and Zhang Wenbo, Deputy Secretaries-General; Professor Hu Yaohua, Vice Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences at Shenzhen University, Associate Professor Han Yu, along with members of the Mathematical Modeling Professional Committee of the Society, members of the Expert Group of the Organizing Committee, and key representatives from organizing committees of various regional divisions of the National College Students Mathematical Modeling Competition attended the opening ceremony.

Secretary-General Xie Jinxing began the report with a comprehensive overview of the 2025 competition's registration, evaluation, and award outcomes, clearly identifying issues encountered during the competition and providing important participation guidelines. Deputy Secretary-General Zhang Wenbo then focused on the use of AI tools in the competition, offering targeted recommendations.

During the problem analysis session, Professor Cui Hengjian from Capital Normal University first provided a detailed interpretation of Problem C, covering its background, modeling approach, and key solution strategies. Subsequently, the meeting proceeded simultaneously for the undergraduate and vocational college tracks. Professors Cai Zhijie (Fudan University), Xue Yi (Beijing University of Technology), Wang Liyan (Southeast University), and Qiao Chen (Xi'an Jiaotong University) systematically analyzed Problems A, B, D, and E of the 2025 competition, respectively. Their presentations covered dimensions including problem-setting context, model construction, solution methodologies, and common pitfalls, delivering an exceptionally instructive feast of insights for attending educators.

Finally, Professor Han Zhonggeng, Vice Chair of the Mathematical Modeling Committee, chaired the discussion and experience-sharing session. Experts from the National Organizing Committee and the Expert Panel engaged in in-depth face-to-face discussions with participating teachers on competition-related issues and problems. Attendees unanimously agreed that this conference established a valuable exchange platform for university mathematical modeling activities, significantly contributing to enhancing competition guidance standards and promoting the healthy development of mathematical modeling initiatives.

As one of the co-hosts, Shenzhen University's School of Mathematical Sciences undertook extensive preparatory work prior to the conference, led by its principal leadership and faculty members. During the event, two faculty members and sixteen students provided high-quality logistical support and attentive services, earning high praise from participating educators for their dedicated efforts.
