On the afternoon of March 13, 2026, the launch ceremony for the 10th Mathematics Culture Month of the School of Mathematical Sciences at Shenzhen University was held in the International Conference Hall on the Yuehai Campus. In attendance were Wang Yu, Party Secretary of the School; Ye Xing, Deputy Party Secretary; Sun Yichong, Secretary of the Youth League Committee; and 260 undergraduate and graduate students from the Class of 2025. The ceremony was presided over by Deputy Party Secretary Ye Xing.

During the ceremony, Sun Yichong, Secretary of the School’s Youth League Committee, reviewed the fruitful achievements of previous Math Culture Months and provided a detailed overview of the overall arrangements for this year’s event. He explained that this year’s Math Culture Month centers on the theme of “Integration of Mathematics and Intelligence,” focusing on four dimensions: “Academics, Practice, Innovation, and Public Welfare.” It systematically constructs four major modules—“Enlightenment: Setting Sail in Math and Physics,” “Exploration: Endless Fun with Numbers,” “Creation and Sharing: Co-creation of Math and Intelligence,” and “Passing the Torch: Reaching Far Through Math”—aiming to create a participatory, multi-layered, and warm atmosphere for faculty and students to experience mathematical culture.

In her address, Wang Yu, Secretary of the School’s Party Committee, elaborated on the profound significance of the Mathematics Culture Month. She noted that mathematics is not only the jewel of the scientific realm but also a way of thinking, a cultural symbol, and a spiritual pursuit. With the theme “Integrating Mathematics and Intelligence, Empowering Youth,” this year’s event keeps pace with the pulse of the era of big data and artificial intelligence, aiming to bring mathematics out of the classroom and into daily life. She encouraged students to broaden their horizons through academic lectures, find joy in engaging activities, hone their skills through competitive challenges, and embrace responsibility through community service. She urged them to wholeheartedly appreciate the beauty and ingenuity of mathematics, and to reflect on its close connection to national development and the progress of our times. Subsequently, Secretary Wang Yu solemnly declared the official launch of the 10th Mathematics Culture Month at the School of Mathematical Sciences, Shenzhen University.

This Mathematics Culture Month will run through April. Through nearly 20 diverse and substantive activities, it will foster a vibrant atmosphere of “exploring, sharing, and loving mathematics” across all dimensions. The event is dedicated to building a distinctive brand that integrates professional knowledge with ideological and political education, guiding faculty and students to experience the charm of mathematics while carrying forward the spirit of mathematicians and courageously embracing the mission of the new era.
