Lecture Title: Joint reconstruction of coil sensitivity and magnetic resonance images based on compressed sensing

Speaker:Prof. Jijun Liu (Southeast University)

Lecture time:October 20, 2023 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Lecture location:514 Huixing Building, Yuehai Campus, Shenzhen University, China

Overview:Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a commonly used imaging modality in medical clinics to non-invasively acquire high-contrast images of soft tissues within the human body. However, the data acquisition (scanning) time for MRI is long due to physical and physiological limitations. Parallel imaging techniques and compressed perception theory are the two main approaches to accelerate MRI. We modeled the joint reconstruction of coil sensitivity and magnetic resonance images under the general framework of compressed perception theory, and designed a fast solution algorithm based on the alternating iteration algorithm and the two-point gradient algorithm. Our method overcomes the modeling error caused by the inaccurate estimation of coil sensitivity and improves the accuracy of parallel imaging.

Speaker Introduction:Liu Jijun, PhD, is a second-class professor and doctoral supervisor of Southeast University, an expert enjoying the State Council's special governmental subsidy, and the host of the national high-quality resources sharing course "Mathematical Modeling and Mathematical Experimentation". He is the executive deputy director of Nanjing Applied Mathematics Center, a member of the organizing committee of the National Student Mathematical Modeling Competition, a member of the Professional Committee of Mathematical Modeling Competition of the Chinese Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and the vice president of the Computational Mathematics Society of Jiangsu Province. He has been the head of the Department of Mathematics of Southeast University, the executive deputy director of the Qiu Chengtong Center of Southeast University, the executive director of the Chinese Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the executive director of the Chinese Society of Computational Mathematics, and the chairman of the fifth and sixth councils of the Jiangsu Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics. He has long been engaged in research on mathematical physics inverse problems, large-scale scientific computation and mathematical theories and methods of media imaging. He has presided over and completed the projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Basic Block Project, Major Research Program Cultivation Project, Surface Project, and International Collaboration Project. He has published more than 130 academic papers in SIAM J. Appl. Math, Inverse Problems and other journals, and 2 academic monographs in Science Press. He was an editorial board member of Inverse Problems in Sciences and Engineering from 2012 to 2017, and an editorial board member of J. Inverse and Ill-posed Problems from 2018.
