Lecture Title: The spread of graphs

Speaker: Wang Yi (Professor, Anhui University)

Date & Time: 4:00–5:00 PM, May 24, 2025

Venue: Room 514, Huixing Building

Abstract: The spread of a graph is the difference between the largest and smallest eigenvalue of its adjacency matrix. In this talk, we will present some new progress on this topic.

Biography: Wang Yi is a Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor at Anhui University, serving as Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Mathematical Sciences. He is a Distinguished Professor of Anhui Province’s Leading Talent Program and a candidate for Anhui Province’s Academic and Technical Leadership. He holds leadership roles in multiple professional societies, including council member of the Chinese Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, executive council member and deputy secretary-general of CSIAM’s Graph Theory and Combinatorics Professional Committee, and executive council member of the Graph Theory and Combinatorics Society of China Operations Research Society. His research interests include spectral graph theory, graph colorings and integer flows, and graph polynomials. He has published over 40 papers in journals such as SIAM Discrete Math., European J. Combin., Electron. J. Combin. He has led 5 National Natural Science Foundation projects and participated in 1 key NSFC project.
