报告内容：Given a joint probability measure, the noise stability problem is to estimate the joint probability of a pair of sets (A,B) given the marginal probabilities of A and B. In the learning-theoretic language, when we learn one bit about a random variable Y from a random variable X, the noise stability problem equivalently asks which bit contains most information about Y. In this talk, we will survey classic and recent advances on the noise stability problem, including several important conjectures, e.g., Mossel-O’Donnell conjecture (2005), Courtade-Kumar’s conjecture (2013), Ordentlich-Polyanskiy-Shayevitz's conjecture (2020), etc.  

报告人简历：于磊博士于2021年入选南开大学“百名青年学科带头人培养计划”，目前是南开大学统计与数据科学学院副教授、博士生导师。于磊博士在2015年从中国科学技术大学电子信息工程专业博士毕业，之后分别在中国科学技术大学、新加坡国立大学、以及美国加州大学伯克利分校做博士后研究。于磊博士目前的研究领域为信息论、概率论、组合数学的交叉领域。目前在Probability Theory and Related Fields、IEEE Transactions on Information Theory等国际著名期刊上发表论文25篇。于2022年获得中国电子学会信息论青年新星奖，自2024年3月开始担任信息论顶刊IEEE Transactions on Information Theory副主编。
