报告内容:Inspired by the p-field theory in Gromov-Witten theory and cotangent theory of Costello in physics, Jiang and Thomas defined several versions of virtual signed Euler characteristics for an existing perfect obstruction theory. In the first talk I will outline the meaning of virtual signed Euler characteristics starting from the classical Euler numbers. These invariants of virtual Euler characteristics will have applications in the study of S-duality conjecture of Vafa-Witten for algebraic surfaces, which is the main topic in the second and third talk.

报告人简历:Prof. Yunfeng Jiang received his Ph.D in mathematics from University of British Columbia (UBC).  Before joining University of Kansas, he worked as a postdoc at University of Utah and Imperial College London.  His main research interests are the general area of  Algebraic Geometry and mathematics physics, especially in the area of Gromov-Witten and Donaldson-Thomas theory, with relations to birational geometry, geometric representation theory, combinatorics and mirror symmetry.
