In the mathematics subject ranking, Shenzhen University saw a steady improvement compared to the 2024 ranking. It advanced from the 451-500 range globally in 2024 to the 351-400 range in 2025, placing 35th nationwide, alongside renowned Double First-Class universities such as Dalian University of Technology, Renmin University of China, and Hunan University. This achievement not only reflects the enhancement of Shenzhen University’s research strength and academic reputation in the field of mathematics but also demonstrates the outstanding effectiveness in subject construction, faculty recruitment, and international cooperation.

During the same period, Shenzhen University’s mathematics subject, through solid academic accumulation and innovative research strength, has consistently ranked in the 201-250 range globally for the second consecutive year in the Times Higher Education 2025 World University Subject Rankings. It is ranked side by side with prestigious Double First-Class universities such as Xi’an Jiaotong University, Tianjin University, East China Normal University, and Northwestern Polytechnical University, holding the 18th position domestically. This once again highlights its rapid development in the field of mathematical research and the continuous enhancement of its international influence.

QS and THE World University Subject Rankings are both among the most influential university rankings globally, with assessment indicators including academic reputation, employer reputation, citation rates of papers, and the H-index, among others. The progress of Shenzhen University’s mathematics department signifies a further elevation of its status in the global higher education landscape and sets a new benchmark for subject construction in Chinese universities.
The Subject of Mathematics at Shenzhen University was established in 1983. The School of Mathematical Sciences adheres to the original aspiration and mission of educating for the Party and cultivating talents for the country, always bearing in mind the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, leading the high-quality development of the discipline with high-quality party building, actively serving major national strategic needs such as the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Area of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, building a high-level scientific research faculty, playing a major role in cultivating basic research talents at universities, and nurturing top-tier talents in fundamental mathematics.
The college currently hosts several national and provincial research platforms, including the Tianyuan Mathematical Center in Southeast China - Shenzhen University, Shenzhen National Center for Applied Mathematics - Shenzhen University, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao National Applied Mathematics Center - Shenzhen Branch. These centers have evolved into leading hubs for mathematical research and talent development. At present, there are 99 full-time teachers in the college, including 4 national youth talents, including the winners of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, the special professors of the National Major Talent Project, and 7 national youth talents, including the winners of the National Outstanding Youth Fund.
