To understand the academic and campus life of incoming freshmen assigned to the School of Mathematical Sciences upon their arrival at Shenzhen University and to encourage more students to participate in the winter recruitment drive to return to their alma mater, our school held a “Freshman Welcome Meeting” and “Winter Recruitment Mobilization Meeting” for the designated recruitment area at the Alumni Plaza at noon on November 20, 2025. Attendees included Han Yu, Vice Dean of Teaching; Chen Bo, recruitment liaison from Yangjiang No. 1 High School; Liu Qiang, liaison from Yangchun No. 1 High School; Li Songchen, liaison from Shenzhen Hongling High School; Sun Zongliang, liaison from Shenzhen Nantou High School; and Zeng Yaomin, member of the Chongqing recruitment team. Nearly 30 freshman representatives from high schools within the college's designated recruitment regions were invited to participate. The meeting was chaired by Huang Zitong, the college's admissions liaison officer.

First, Vice Dean Han Yu delivered a welcome address and introduced the faculty members present today to the students. Next, Instructor Huang Zitong explained the significance of the winter recruitment campaign, outlined the registration process and subsequent steps for participants, and shared insights into the college's recruitment outreach efforts in designated responsibility zones during the previous year. She also provided specific contact information for zone coordinators, encouraging everyone to actively participate in the campaign while mobilizing classmates to join the recruitment team.

For this meeting, the college specially invited Hou Peiyao, last year's outstanding winter recruitment coordinator, to share her experiences. Hou provided a detailed account of the preparatory work, progress, and post-event reflections for the winter recruitment campaign, along with her personal insights. Through vivid illustrations and text, she demonstrated the significance and impact of winter recruitment efforts. Following this, Huang Yaqi, a student from the Class of 2024 in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (Excellence Program), shared her university experiences. She highlighted the differences between university and high school learning approaches, detailing how she manages her time and energy to participate in clubs, student affairs, and volunteer activities outside of class, thereby enhancing her personal growth.

The meeting concluded with an open discussion session. Faculty and students engaged in thorough exchanges, fostering a warm and lively atmosphere throughout the discussion. New students expressed high anticipation for the upcoming winter recruitment campaign, with some spontaneously continuing their discussions after the meeting. With this, the “New Student Orientation” and “Winter Recruitment Mobilization Meeting” came to a successful close. Under the unified arrangements and guidance of the university's Admissions Office, our college will continue to actively advance all aspects of undergraduate recruitment promotion for the 2026 academic year.
