Shenzhen University Successfully Hosts 2025 Forum for Outstanding Young Overseas Scholars in Mathematics

Phoenix Descends on South Mountain, Talents Gather at Litchi Garden. The Shenzhen University Mathematics Overseas Young Scholars Forum was successfully held on December 10 at the Yuehai Campus of Shenzhen University. The forum invited over 20 scholars from renowned overseas universities and research institutions, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Chicago, the University of California, Los Angeles, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and the National University of Singapore. The forum aimed to establish an academic exchange platform for young talents worldwide, fostering innovation and integration within mathematics and interdisciplinary fields. It also sought to attract outstanding young scholars to join Shenzhen University, strengthen its faculty development, and accelerate the advancement of its mathematics discipline.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Zhao Yi, Vice Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences. Attendees included Chu Xianghua, Deputy Director of Shenzhen University's Human Resources Department; Professor Wang Yuefei, Honorary Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences; the Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences; and numerous faculty members from the school.

At the meeting, Chu Xianghua, Deputy Director of the Human Resources Department, provided a detailed interpretation of the university's talent policies. He emphasized that Shenzhen University steadfastly upholds a “people-oriented” philosophy, establishing a comprehensive, multidimensional development support system for recruited talent. This encompasses career planning guidance, research project support, competitive compensation packages, and access to high-end experimental platforms. The Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences at Shenzhen University outlined the discipline's developmental journey during the meeting. In recent years, the school has consistently advanced in teaching reform, scientific research innovation, talent cultivation, and faculty development, achieving comprehensive high-quality growth. To attract and retain outstanding talent, the school has implemented multiple policies to holistically support the professional growth of young faculty members. The Dean expressed the School of Mathematical Sciences' warm welcome for exceptional individuals to join and collaborate in its development.

Following the opening ceremony, attendees gathered for a group photo before proceeding to the presentation session. The forum featured two parallel sessions on pure mathematics and applied mathematics, where young scholars delivered a series of outstanding presentations. Each speaker articulated their academic perspectives, offering fresh insights and methodologies for the advancement of mathematical disciplines.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the School once again expressed its gratitude to the invited scholars and extended a warm welcome for them to join the School of Mathematical Sciences at Shenzhen University. It expressed anticipation for mutual growth and progress in the future. Amidst enthusiastic applause, the Shenzhen University Mathematics Discipline Outstanding Young Scholars Forum came to a successful close. After a day of exchanges, the scholars gained a deeper understanding of Shenzhen University and looked forward to welcoming more outstanding talents in the future to advance the development of the university's mathematics discipline!
