From April 17 to 20, 2026, the “2026 Academic Symposium on Frontiers in Optimization Theory and Applications,” hosted by the School of Mathematical Sciences at Shenzhen University, was held at the Yuehai Campus of Shenzhen University. Focusing on the latest research advances and cutting-edge scientific issues in optimization theory and applications, the conference invited renowned experts and scholars in the field to engage in in-depth academic exchanges and specialized discussions.

The opening ceremony was held with great fanfare on the morning of April 18 in Classroom 4 on the first floor of Huixing Building. Lu Jian, Vice Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences at Shenzhen University, delivered a welcome address on behalf of the school, extending his most sincere greetings and a warm welcome to the experts and scholars who had traveled from afar. Professor Lu Jian provided a detailed overview of the school’s recent research achievements, success in talent cultivation, and plans for disciplinary development, expressing his hope that this conference would serve as a bridge to advance the development of mathematical optimization theory and its cutting-edge applications.

Professor Xu Dachuan from Beijing University of Technology and Professor Huang Zhenghai from Tianjin University attended the opening ceremony as invited experts and delivered remarks. Both professors expressed their gratitude to the School of Mathematical Sciences at Shenzhen University for its meticulous organization and thoughtful arrangements, and extended sincere greetings to the experts and scholars who had traveled from all over the country. The two professors noted that the symposium closely centered on the two main themes of innovation in optimization theory and exploration of cutting-edge applications, thereby establishing an academic exchange platform for researchers in related fields across the country. This not only helps scholars accurately grasp the latest trends in the discipline and delve deeper into cutting-edge research directions but also lays a solid foundation for deepening cross-regional academic cooperation. The two experts addressed all participants, expressing their hope that everyone would continue to engage in in-depth exchanges, build greater consensus, and work together to elevate research in the field of optimization to new heights.

The symposium featured a tightly organized and well-structured agenda with rich and practical content, comprising a total of 17 high-level academic presentations. Experts and scholars engaged in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics in optimization theory and its applications in fields such as machine learning, data science, financial engineering, and supply chain management, thoroughly exchanging their latest research progress and unique insights. Participants actively shared advancements in theoretical research and applications, fostering a vibrant academic atmosphere.

At the closing ceremony, Professor Kong Lingchen from Beijing Jiaotong University delivered the closing remarks. He highly commended the high-quality academic presentations and fruitful exchanges at the conference, while also expressing earnest hopes for the long-term development of China’s optimization field.

The successful convening of the “2026 Academic Symposium on Frontiers in Optimization Theory and Applications” not only deepened academic ties among domestic and international experts in the cutting-edge fields of optimization theory and applications but also fostered cross-institutional and cross-regional collaboration and innovation, injecting new momentum into theoretical breakthroughs and applied advancements in this field.
