Lecture Title: Reflections and Explorations on the Development of Smart Courses

Abstract: This report analyzes and discusses the impact of AI on university course instruction and curriculum development, and explores the core elements of smart course development: advanced course teaching philosophies and objective frameworks; the restructuring of course content systems to achieve deep integration with AI; the establishment of supporting resource systems; the creation of an AI-enabled “teacher-computer-student” teaching model; and the implementation of a data-driven process evaluation system. The report concludes by sharing our team’s pioneering work on the development of digital textbooks for college-level mathematics, including our conceptual approach, development model, content design, and practical applications.

Biography: Zhu Shixin, Level 2 Professor at Hefei University of Technology; National Teaching Master and recipient of the first National “Ten Thousand Talents Plan” Teaching Master Award; National Model Teacher; and expert receiving a special government allowance from the State Council; An Anhui Provincial Government Advisor; member of the editorial board of the Journal of Cryptology; Executive Deputy Editor-in-Chief of University Mathematics; Supervisor of the Chinese Society of Cryptology; Vice Chair of the Professional Committee on Educational Mathematics of the China Higher Education Society; Deputy Supervisor of the Anhui Mathematical Society; Vice Chair of the Anhui Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics; and Adjunct Professor at the National University of Defense Technology. He previously served two terms as a member of the National University Mathematics Teaching Steering Committee and held the position of Dean of the School of Mathematics for four terms.

His primary research interests are algebraic coding and cryptography. He has received one First Prize (as lead researcher) and one Second Prize in the Anhui Provincial Natural Science Award, as well as one Second Prize in the Ministry of Education’s Natural Science Award. He has led one Key Project under the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Joint Fund, one subproject under the NSFC Key Project for International Cooperation, and six NSFC General Projects. He has published more than 300 SCI-indexed papers. The advanced mathematics textbook he edited won the Second Prize in the First National Textbook Award; four of his textbooks were approved as National “14th Five-Year Plan” Textbooks. As principal investigator, he has received one Second Prize in the National Teaching Achievement Award, three Special Prizes and five First Prizes in the Anhui Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards, and was awarded the Anhui Provincial Major Achievement in Teaching Award in 2019. He serves as the director responsible for establishing the doctoral program in Mathematics (Level I discipline), the director of a National-Level First-Class Major, the director of a National-Level First-Class Course, the director of a National-Level High-Quality Course, the director of a National-Level Resource-Sharing Course, the director of a National-Level Teaching Team, and the director of one of the nation’s first virtual teaching and research offices.
