On the morning of September 16, Hu Yaohua, Vice Dean (in charge of administrative affairs) of the School of Mathematical Sciences at Shenzhen University, Ye Xing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and all the school’s student advisors visited the military training grounds to extend their regards to all first-year undergraduate students of the Class of 2026 who were participating in the training.
At the start of the event, after hearing a report on the overall progress of the freshmen’s military training, Vice Dean Hu Yaohua (in charge of administrative affairs) delivered the Dean’s “First Lesson in Ideological and Political Education” to the students. He fully affirmed the overall demeanor of the Class of 2026 since the start of training and commended their excellent performance in consistently reporting for drills on time and earnestly completing all training exercises. He noted that military training is an important collective practical classroom at the beginning of college life and a process of establishing a “coordinate system” for university life: Adhering to a unified schedule and following commands are like setting “constraints” for individual behavior, guiding everyone to find the greatest “common denominator” within the collective “set” and cultivating the fine habits of strict discipline and individual submission to the collective. This discipline complements the four years of university life spent upholding academic order and diligently completing academic tasks—just as a mathematical proof requires both axiomatic support and rigorous logical deduction. He encouraged the students, noting that even in times of peace, young scholars must remain true to their inner sense of self-discipline and shoulder the responsibilities of youth. They should transform the resilience and perseverance honed on the military training grounds into the driving force for future academic pursuits and participation in collective affairs; When facing difficulties, they should break down problems and proceed iteratively, just as one would when solving complex equations; when facing collective tasks, they should accurately identify their own “coordinates” and “vectors,” strictly abide by the rules, fulfill their duties, and grow and progress within the collective.

Next, two student representatives from the military training program took the floor one after another to share their reflections on the training. They reported on what they had gained from the training since it began, expressed their sincere gratitude to the college leadership for visiting the training grounds to see them, and pledged to complete all remaining training tasks with enthusiasm and high morale.

At the conclusion of the event, Vice President Hu Yaohua (in charge of administrative affairs) and Deputy Party Secretary Ye Xing distributed care packages to the participating freshmen. The two leaders engaged in friendly conversations with the students, reminding them to stay properly hydrated, maintain a regular sleep schedule, and promptly report any issues to their platoon or academic advisor.

This military training outreach event is an important part of the college’s orientation program for incoming freshmen. It not only allows the Class of 2026 to truly experience the college’s warmth and care but also provides students with moral encouragement and safety reminders during breaks in training. We are confident that, with the college’s care and support, the new students of the School of Mathematics will continue to strengthen their resolve, stay true to their original aspirations, grow through the challenges of military training, and embark on a new journey of mathematical and physical exploration with high spirits.
