The 2026 Annual Conference of the Institute of Mathematics at Shenzhen University and the Academic Exchange Meeting for New Faculty Members Was Successfully Held

On the morning of June 30, the 2026 Annual Conference of the Institute of Mathematics at Shenzhen University and the Academic Exchange Meeting for New Faculty Members were successfully held at Shenzhen University’s Yuehai Campus. The conference invited leading domestic experts in the field of mathematics to provide guidance and formed a high-level expert advisory panel. The panel was chaired by Liu Jianya, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the National High-Level Talent Training Center for Mathematics at Shandong University. Nearly twenty renowned scholars, including Professor Lü Kening, Academic Dean of the School of Mathematics at Sichuan University, and Professor Chen Binglong, Dean of the School of Mathematics at Sun Yat-sen University, served as members of the expert panel. More than fifty experts from both within and outside the university, as well as faculty and staff from the school, attended the event. Through sessions such as academic presentations by young faculty members and expert commentary and guidance, the conference pooled wisdom and generated momentum for the development of our university’s Mathematics Research Institute and the high-quality advancement of the mathematics discipline. The opening ceremony was presided over by Hu Yaohua, Vice Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Wang Yuefei, Honorary Dean of the College and Director of the Institute of Mathematics, delivered a speech. He began by extending a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the experts who had traveled from afar, and then outlined the Institute of Mathematics’ development history and academic achievements. Approved in September 2022, the Institute of Mathematics has now established a high-caliber research team with an excellent structure and outstanding capabilities. The team focuses on core cutting-edge areas of pure mathematics, including complex analysis and complex dynamical systems, nonlinear partial differential equations, and mathematical optimization. Professor Wang Yuefei noted that the Institute’s growth and development would not have been possible without the strong support of domestic peers, and he expressed special gratitude to Academician Liu Jianya and the attending experts for their long-standing support. He added that all researchers at the Institute will continue to deepen their work in fundamental theoretical research and strive to build a high-level platform for pure mathematics research with international influence.

Following the opening remarks, the academic presentations by the newly hired faculty members officially began, with Academician Liu Jianya, Professor Lü Kening, Professor Chen Binglong, and Professor Jiang Wenshuai presiding over the sessions in turn. Focusing on research areas such as algebra and the theory of partial differential equations, the presenters introduced their research backgrounds, achievements, and future research plans, offering attendees—both faculty and students—fascinating academic insights that were both in-depth and cutting-edge. These presentations fully demonstrated the young scholars’ solid theoretical foundations, cutting-edge research perspectives, and enthusiastic commitment to research. Following the presentations, attendees actively posed questions and engaged in lively discussions, fostering a rich and pure academic atmosphere.

At the conclusion of the conference, Vice Dean Hu Yaohua delivered closing remarks and announced the successful conclusion of the 2026 Annual Conference of the Institute of Mathematics and the Academic Exchange Meeting for New Faculty Members. He once again expressed his gratitude to the experts for their attendance and for their ongoing support of the mathematics discipline at Shenzhen University. He also cordially invited industry experts to recommend outstanding talent through various channels to continue strengthening the faculty of both the School and the Institute of Mathematics. Furthermore, he expressed his hope that all faculty members—both new and experienced—would seize this opportunity to exchange experiences, unite their efforts, and produce more high-level, original research outcomes, thereby injecting sustained and robust momentum into the long-term development of the Institute of Mathematics and the School.
